During the austral winter (June to September), majestic humpback whales migrate from Antarctic feeding grounds to the warmer waters around Mauritius. it’s entirely possible to glimpse these giants off the northeast coast, near the islets such as Coin de Mire, Round and Flat Island, where calm, shallow waters offer ideal breeding grounds . These gentle giants, often accompanied by their calves, perform spectacular surface behaviours—breaching, tail slapping and singing—creating unforgettable experiences for visitors.

Takeoff from our turquoise blue seabase in front of LUX* Grand Gaube Hotel, overflying both land and sea of the North East coast. This flight will allow you to discover one of the most beautiful lagoons of the island as you fly over the North-East and back up towards our Sea Base.
